Took a long time to get it,But it finally came.So be prepared to wait
Shipping entirely too long. Missed project that needed to be done. Will not order again!
I bought this to make a faux beam to hide the top plate of a non-load bearing wall I removed. I could have removed it and patched the ceiling but went this route. A regular miter is the best way to give the appearance of a solid beam but it wouldn't be strong enough and it would be tough to line up over a long span. This solved both of those problems.
I used this bit to join 1x8's to wrap a post to have it look like a beam...worked great! One tip... you need straight wood for accurate edges, especially on long pieces.
I really like this bit. I've only tried it on 1/2' baltic birch plywood and it cuts quickly and cleanly. I think hogging out the bulk of the material with a 45-degree pass on the table saw really helped. One of the problems I see people having is the set-up. It's pretty simple when you think about it. You need to align the centerline of both the horizontal (table) and vertical (fence) pieces to be routed with the center point of the bit profile. It took me minutes to set up and was good to go the first time. I attached a picture of the center point of the bit. I hope it helps someone. Then, when you do get it where you want it, make a set of set-up blocks for the next time.
I used this bit on several 3/8' thick Myrtlewood joints and worked very well. I like it, but you better not have any knots or flaws in the woods you are attempting to join together. This bit is only used periodically, so a tool of this quality made sense than using the more expensive ones.
Used it to make legs for a coffee table I built. It took me minutes to set up and was good to go the first time. Works great!
Very nice quality bit. I have only used it on softwoods so far. Setup is easy but once you get it right you won't mess with the fence or height in making incremental cuts. I am very happy with it.
I bought this little woodworking piece for my husband who likes to tinker around building different things. I had no idea something so small could make such a big difference with woodworking. It seemed robust and well made and he is really looking forward to using it to fabricate some Shadow Boxes.
For now, I will give these a 5-star rating. I just got them an hour ago and after the second passed, I was able to work on a scrap piece which I included in the photo attachment. I will have to see how long they stay sharp and update this review if need be.
